New Ventures China
The Institute for Environment and Development (IED) is a domestic non-governmental organization in China, established in 1994. It focuses on environmental protection and social development research. The mission of IED is to protect the planet and improve China’s sustainable development. IED insists on searching for a solution to balance the environment and development issues. The researchers in IED focus on the real social problems, adopting a scientific and innovative working spirit to provide valid data, information and analysis for government, enterprises and the public.
Services and Events
The New Ventures China program provides high quality capacity building to small and medium enterprises(SMEs) through workshops, salons and forums. NVC supports the entrepreneurs in keeping their business knowledge up-to-date, as well as increasing investment in SMEs that incorporates social and environmental benefits. By engaging companies that operate in sectors like energy conservation, emissions reduction, and low-carbon economy development, NVC explores the current issues and solutions for a sustainable economy in China.
In the past seven years, more than 400 SMEs have participated in NVC’s capacity building workshops and have taken advantage of its investor matchmaking opportunities. To date, NVC has selected over 60 enterprises for the NVC portfolio and has helped more than 20 enterprises obtain over USD 150 million investment and funds.
